The “You’ve been signed in with a temporary profile” error message on Windows indicates that Windows was unable to load your user profile correctly, and instead, it has logged you in with a temporary profile. A temporary profile is created by Windows when it cannot locate your user profile or encounters an error while loading it. The temporary profile allows you to log in to your computer, but you will not have access to your files, settings, or installed programs.
Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue:
- Restart your computer: Sometimes, restarting your computer can resolve issues that are preventing Windows from loading your user profile correctly.
- Check the user profile settings: Verify that your user profile is still present on your computer, and it has not been accidentally deleted. To do this, open the Control Panel, go to “User Accounts,” and click “Manage another account.” Check if your user profile is listed.
- Check the registry settings: Sometimes, incorrect registry settings can cause user profile errors. Use the Registry Editor to navigate to the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList” key and check if your user profile is listed.
- Delete the temporary profile: Log out of your temporary profile and log in as an administrator. Then, delete the temporary profile by going to the Control Panel, clicking “User Accounts,” and selecting “Delete account.”
- Restore your user profile: If your user profile has been deleted or corrupted, you may need to restore it from a backup or use a data recovery tool to recover your files.
